Allan “A.J.” Frayer, 30, of Witt, has been charged with first-degree murder and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon after the shooting death of Jason S. Newell, of Springfield.
Newell was pronounced dead at the scene from .22-caliber rifle gunshot and knife wounds. The 36-year-old had been temporarily living with Frayer and one other individual in the 100 block of Vermilion Street in Witt.
Frayer is being held in Hillsboro on $1.5 million bond.
