While it is Wednesday morning, November 4, we still don’t know who the United States president will be. However, the race for the White House wasn’t the only thing going on on election day. Here are the results for some of the big races affecting central Illinois.

In the race for the US Senate, Democrat Dick Durbin defeated Republican Mark Curran with 52.3% of the vote

Rodney Davis (R) easily defeated Betsy Dirksen-Londrigen for the 13th District Congressional seat.

Darrin LaHood (R) kept his seat in the 18th District Congressional district, defeating George Petrilli, who got less than 30% of the vote

Tim Butler (R) retained his seat in the 87th District of the Illinois House as did Sue Sherer (D) and in the 96th District, and Avery Bourne in the 95th District. Christopher Davidsmeyer snagged 75% of the vote for the 100th District

The Illinois Amendment to remove the Flat Income Tax is likely to be defeated. While counts for mail-in and provisional ballots are not complete, with 98% of the votes in, 55% of voters have voted no.

In Chatham, voters defeated the proposition for Chatham community fire protection district to increase the limiting rate.
