Dining options in downtown Springfield continue to dwindle. The Feed Store, Robbies, and Augies Front Burner have all closed. The Alamo has stopped serving lunch, though, hopefully, just temporarily. Now VELE Italian Restaurant is moving from its current location at 524 E. Monroe St to the former site of American Harvest at 3241 W. Iles Ave.

According to the VELE’s website announcement, “All of our beloved VELE menu items and staff will remain. In addition, Justin and his culinary team are working on some incredible new entrees and handmade pastas.” The move will also double the square footage, which will allow for private dining options.

The last day for the downtown operation is September 26. The hope is to be open in the new location in October, but no specific date has been announced.

VELE’s cuisine focuses on modern coastal Italian, seafood, pastas, and steaks.
