Springfield Police Chief Kenny Winslow is preparing to leave Springfield and Illinois behind after tentatively accepting a new position in Franklin, Tennessee, 20 miles South of Nashville.

Winslow has been with the Springfield Police Department for 25 years and was named interim police chief 7 years ago.

While Winslow notified the mayor last week, he has not officially resigned at this point. The Police Chief told the SJR he and his family are “currently in Tennessee trying to sort through some things with family to ensure this is the right step for us in life.”
