Springfield Ballet Re-Invents “The Nutcracker” With “Through Clara’s Eyes”

It is a holiday tradition for many, and like many holiday traditions in the year of COVID, it will look a little different.


Every year, the Springfield Ballet Company presents the “Nutcracker Suite.” However, since we can’t all gather inside Sangamon Auditorium, the SBC has put together a streaming performance of “Through Clara’s Eyes.” Essentially it is a documentary-style presentation if how the Nutcracker comes together through Clara’s, the lead role, eyes,


According to the SBC website:

The Springfield Ballet Company invites you to come together in your home to let the holiday spirits soar with Springfield Ballet Company’s production, Through Clara’s Eyes. The Springfield Ballet Company is thrilled to offer this exclusive documentary that captures the essence and magic behind its annual production of The Nutcracker. Be prepared for an exciting behind-the-scenes journey spanning more than forty years. The documentary film includes exclusive interviews, never before seen footage, and more.

The Nutcracker Suite is the largest production the ballet company puts on all year and relies on the revenue it generates for operations.


Through Clara’s Eyes will be streamed on multiple dates. The VIP experience streams Friday, November 27 at 6pm with three different ticket levels ranging from $95 to $250. Other performances will stream Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from December 4 through January 3. Tickets are $30 per device.
