Students in the Riverton School District start classes today (Mondays 8/17). However, the school district has made plenty of changes account for COVID-19
With approximately 80% of the school district opting for the hybrid model, parents will have to sign off each day that their child does not have any COVID symptoms. Additionally, students will get their temperatures taken at a kiosk at the school, and those who ride a bus will have their temperature taken by a monitor.
In some areas of the middle school, traffic is marked one way. The school has placed numerous signs around the buildings stressing the importance of wearing masks and floor markers measuring out 6 feet to maintain social distancing. Lockers will not be used.
Riverton School Superintendent Brad Polanin said he and his staff are doing their due diligence to keep students and staff safe, stating that health experts have said it is safe to conduct in-person classes if you follow the CDC guidance. However, he also acknowledges that this is an untested scenario, and there is “no perfect answer.”
