Local Hospitals Are Establishing New Visitor Restrictions Among Rise In COVID Cases

New restrictions on visitors at several areas hospitals today include Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville, Taylorville Memorial Hospital, and Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.


Memorial Medical Center in Springfield and Decatur Memorial Hospital already have restrictions in place in an attempt to slow the spread of COVID-19.


In most cases, this means that anyone receiving inpatient care will not be allowed to have visitors. However, there a few exceptions including:


  • For emergency department visits, one visitor who must remain in the patient’s room for the visit duration is permitted.

  • Two visitors will be permitted for end of life visits for inpatients

  • For inpatient obstetrics, one support person who must be the same person for the duration of the patient’s stay is permitted.

  • For pediatric patients, two parents/guardians are permitted for both inpatient and outpatient cases.

  • One visitor is permitted in the waiting room only for the duration of the surgical procedure for both inpatient and outpatient procedures

  • Any patient with intellectual and/or developmental disability or cognitive impairments is permitted, one support person.

  • Anyone receiving any kind of outpatient services is encouraged to come alone whenever possible or have visitors wait outside until services are complete.


All visitors will be screened before entry and must wear a face coving the mouth and nose at all times during the visit.


For patients who cannot have visitors, updates will be provided via phone or video for family.
