Hospital Sister Health Systems, which owns hospitals in Wisconsin and Illinois including HSHS St John's, has announced plans to layoff of approximately 10% of their staff across their 15 hospitals due to income lost as a result of the coronavirus.
While an exact number of people impacted by the layoffs isn't known, best estimates puts the number around 1500 based on the number of employees sited by the company's website in 2019. The majority of the layoffs will be coming from the non-medical staff.
How many staff members at HSHS St John's could lose their jobs was not immediately clear.
