Sangamon County Department of Public Health is offering seasonal influenza shots at their building at 2833 South Grand Avenue East. Due to the pandemic, the vaccine will be provided through drive-up service. However, those vaccinating their entire family or children under the age of 8 are advised to come into the building, and anyone who cannot receive the vaccine in their car.
The vaccine clinics will start Tuesday, September 29, with the following hours:
Mondays 9:00 am to 6:30 pm – inside clinic only
Tuesdays 9:00 am to 3:00 pm - drive-thru and inside clinic
Wednesdays 9:00 am to 3:00 pm – drive-thru and inside clinic
Thursdays 9:00 am to 3:00 pm – drive-thru and inside clinic
Fridays 9:00 am to 3:00 pm – drive-thru and inside clinic
According to the SCDPH press release, there is no cost for Medicare B and Medicaid recipients, and those covered by most private insurance carriers. For those without any type of insurance coverage, the price is $40 or, for anyone requiring a high dose vaccine, $70
The CDC recommends that everyone receive their flu shot no later than October 31 for the best protection from the illness.
