In an emergency school board meeting on Thursday evening, school board members voted 5-2 to start the 20/21 school year remotely when classes resume August 31
Due to the rise of the coronavirus in Sangamon County, It was determined that remote learning would continue until at least October 26, which marks the end of the first quarter.
Initially, District 186 had hoped to start the year using a hybrid/blended model. Still, with the positivity rate for COVID-19 at over 6%, interest for the program had slowed down. It was determined for the safety and students and staff, online classes were the best option.
