District 186 Superintendent Jennifer Gill confirmed that the earliest students could return to in-person learning at Monday night’s school board meeting is January 12. This means parents and guardians of students will need to decide with they want their children to attend school using the hybrid model.
If no changes are being made to a student’s learning model, no actions need to be taken. However, if parents or guardians wish to change their student’s learning model, those changes need to be made by November 30.
According to the SJR, changes can be made by logging onto the student information section on the “parent’s account” on the information system.
However, the school board reminded parents that specific metrics regarding the pandemic must be met for two straight weeks for students to return to the classrooms. Currently, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health, 3 of the 4- positivity rate, cases per 100,000, and new cases - are not being met.
