Not that I condone crime BUT, if you are going to try and shoplift a bunch of stuff, make sure your car's battery is up to the task of powering the getaway car.
41-year-old Raymond Stavig and 27-year-old Derek Shurts bolted out of a Kohl's in Clackamas, Oregon, with their arms full of stolen merchandise.
They made it to their car and expected to dash off with their ill-gotten gains. One problem- the car battery was dead.
They tried asking people in the parking lot to give them a hand and jump the car, but the cops arrived before getting the car started.
Raymond apparently really didn't want to go to jail because he first offered to pay Derek $1,000 to take the whole fall. When that didn't work, he tried blaming his wife, telling the cops that she has stolen all the stuff.
That didn't work either.
Oh, and when the cops searched the car, they also found bags of clothing from other stores, laptops, phones, stolen credit cards, Oregon ID cards, a magnetic card reader/writer, counterfeit cash, drugs, and possibly a partridge in a pear tree (though that has not been confirmed).
Both were arrested and are facing multiple charges
