Though the deal has not been finalized, Mayor Jim Langfelder said there are “strong odds” the City of Springfield will acquire the old Salvation Army’s Adult Rehabilitation Center between Madison and Jefferson Streets – along the 10th Street corridor.
Next week, the city will consider a $2.94 million purchase agreement for the 84,451 square foot facility, which the city will already need to purchase as part of the Springfield Rail Improvement project.
As concern for the homeless grows as winter approaches, the former Rehab Center would be larger than last year’s warming center and would allow for social distancing.
