The Ball-Chatham School District could be joining the growing list of schools opting for online classes only when the new school year starts.
The school board held a meeting last night to decide whether they would follow the lead of districts like Pleasant Plains and Springfield Public Schools and remain closed to in-person classes for the time being. Emails to the school district were read aloud about from parents, some with extreme feelings about the topic, at the start of the meeting. The school also debated the legal liability they would have as a result of in-person classes.
Ultimately, a vote was taken to reconvene the meeting at 6:30 Monday evening for a vote about opening.
About 75% of the district that serves approximately 4850 students have opted for the hybrid model.
