Declining enrollment, rising costs, and not enough coming from endowments resulted in the 174-year-old MacMurray College in Jacksonville shutting its doors and the end of the spring semester
Now, the board of trustees as set the date that the facility- including its dorms and chapel- will go on the auction block – November 12.
Tulsa-based auction house Williams & Williams and consultant Jones Lang LaSalle out of Chicago have divided the property into 18 parcels – though admittedly, the best solution would be for one individual to purchase the entire 60-acre campus.
Hindman Auctions is overseeing the auction of artwork from Nellie Knopf – a long time faculty member of the college. 16 of her pieces will be available starting September 30, with another 44 going on sale on October 1.
